OISTAT Education Week on Remote Teaching & Learning Hosted by OISTAT Education Commission

OISTAT is pleased to present “OISTAT Education Week on Remote Teaching & Learning - Hosted by OISTAT Education Commission,” with 2-4 sessions per day on various aspects of theatre education in the last week of June.
 
COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live and affected educational systems worldwide. OISTAT Education week is a global  platform for who are interested in the future of theatre education to discuss the strategies educators and learners should take. We would like to invite you joining us to form new ideas and thoughts on theatre education.

Session 1 - Introduction of “OISTAT Education Week on Remote Teaching & Learning-Hosted by OISTAT Education Commission” & Overall Online Teaching & Learning Challenges

In Session 1, we will talk about the overall challenges of remote teaching and learning for educators and students worldwide. Please join us to share your own strategies for building productive and positive online teaching / learning environment.


Session 2 - Student & Faculty Physical/Mental/Emotional Health

Safety and health matter! Join this session to know how other educators manage their physical & mental health during online teaching and how to keep students motivated. 


Session 3 - Recruiting & Retaining Students during the Pandemic

Students recruitment in the COVID-19 pandemic is a common challenge for theatre programs all over the world. The session will focus on the ways of retaining current students and recruiting future students.


Session 4 - OISTAT Education Happy Hour

Although we live in uncertainty, OISTAT keeps providing platforms to connect worldwide theatre communities. Bring a cup of coffee/ tea/ beer or your favorite drink, have a causal chat with theatre-makers from other countries.

How does social distancing apply to theatre and live performances? How to produce socially distanced or online performances?  The session will provide you some thoughts on how to keep theatre “alive” during the pandemic.


Session 6 - Developing International Collaborations for Teaching & Learning Online

Meet students and faculties from all corners of the world to discuss the successes and challenges of learning/teaching theatre online. Invite your students to join the sessions to reflect their experiences of remote learning and how they are doing in the quarantine period. 


Session 8 to Session 15 - Focus Sessions
 
Theatre heavily relies on practical works. How do we embrace virtual learning environment in theatre education? How to teach hands-on craft through online platform? Join Session 8 -15 to have discussions on the ways of teaching and learning theatre architecture, theatre technology, stage management, theatre design and theatre research & dramaturgy.
