Prague Quadrennial 2015 Invites Countries and Regions for Participation

The 13th Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Spacetakes place June 18 – 28, 2015, with new spatial arrangement covering a series of venues all around the very city center of Prague. Structured along three main parts – Section of Countries and Regions, Student Section and Space exhibition - the upcoming Prague Quadrennial aims to explore scenography as SharedSpace. Main inspiration topics for curators of countries and regions are Music Weather Politics. Deadline to submit applications to the main sections is January 31, 2014.

During the official announcement conference of the PQ 2015 held on September 26, 2014 in the premises of the Czech Ministry of Culture in Prague, the organizational team provided basic information on the event’s artistic concept and introduced commissioners of Music Weather and Politics themes of the Section of Countries and Regions: Czech opera director Jiří Heřman (Music), British artist/scenographer Simon Banham (Weather) and Brazilian curator/scenographer Aby Cohen(Politics). In addition, PQ 2015 aims to challenge creative process through additional exhibitions curated by renowned experts such as: Serge von Arx (Space exhibition), Sodja Lotker (Tribes exhibition), Rebekka A. Ingimundardóttir (Makers exhibition) and Tomáš Svoboda (Objectsexhibition). The 11 days of the event will also feature live events, workshops, debates, presentations and lectures by renowned artists and experts held within PQ Talks and SpaceLab the student platform.

Detailed information on the artistic concept and application form are available HERE. The official PQ 2015 call for participation is currently being coordinated and distributed worldwide in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

With less than 20 months to PQ 2015, the appointed curators of countries and regions are invited to take part in a scenography symposium Spatial Curation held April 2 – 4 in Prague.
