The purpose is to develop a set of standards for machinery, technical installations and work equipment used in places of assembly, in staging and production facilities for events and theatrical productions. Such facilities include theatres, multi-purpose halls, exhibition halls; film, television, photography and radio studios as well as facilities in concert halls, schools, bars, discotheques, open-air stages and other places for shows and events. After establishing the CEN TC, different Working Groups (WG) focus on different topics such as machinery, equipment, lighting, may be created within this Technical Committee.

The target is, specialists in the different CEN countries participate in voting, and approach towards their national standardization organizations to get a formal authorization to be delegated in the CEN TC. Furthermore, depending on the internal regulations of national standardization organizations, national mirror committees may be needed to ensure qualified majorities on a national level.

The CEN Technical Board (CEN/BT) has certified the proposal and distributed it as BTN 9397 - Draft BT C136/2013 to all CEN member organizations with their national standardization organizations (national standardization bodies) for European voting till 2014-03-11.

If possible, please contact interested specialists and stakeholders to be part of a national mirror committee, and/or delegate towards the new CEN TC.

The financing to hold the secretariat of the new CEN TC is assured by German organizations like DTHG, VPLT, EVVC or AUMA and supported by their company members. Participation (except of national contributions, travel expenses, time and capacity) is expected to be free of extra charges.

Important to know: any CEN which is worked out with or without national participation will be rolled out obligatory after publication in all CEN member countries.
