Joe Pino

Joe is a freelance sound designer and an associate professor at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh PA. and holds an MFA in Directing from the University of Virginia. He has been designing sound for theater since 1981. For a time in the late 1980’s he was a mixer for a wide range of jazz artists including Sarah Vaughan, Dizzy Gillespie and Sun Ra.
  
Joe curated exhibits for Scenofest at the Prague Quadrennial in 2007 and 2011. He was the project leader for the sound program at World Stage Design 2017 and PQ 2019. Professional memberships include the Sound Design Commission for the United States Institute of Theater Technology (USITT), United Scenic Artists 829, Theatrical Composers and Sound Designers Association (TSDCA) and the Association of Sound Designers (ASD).
