Steven Brown has designed and lectured in sound design around the world most notably in Tokyo, Madrid, Budapest Amsterdam. He recently designed Madre Corragio at Teatro Strehler in Milan and lectured at Yale and Purdue Universities in the USA. His extensive theatre credits include, for the Royal Shakespeare Company, RICHARD III directed by Sam Mendes; Trevor Nunns MEASURE FOR MEASURE and THE BLUE ANGEL, THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, ROMEO AND JULIET, THE BEAUX STRATEGEM and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM. As a resident Sound Engineer for the Royal National Theatre, his numerous credits include SWEENEY TODD, ARCADIA, THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS and LEAVE TAKING. Since joining the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, as Head of Sound, he has designed over 75 productions.
He recently collaborated with Steam Control on WHY WON'T YOU TELL ME? which premiered at the National Film Theatre in London. He was sound designer for the Scenofest Stage at the 2003 Prague Quadrennial where he also gave a presentation of his work and was Sound Design Project Head for Scenofest at The Prague Quadrennial 2007. Steve was curator and designer for the sound design exhibit which formed part of the 'Collaborators: UK Design for Performance' exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
