Mission

The Costume Design Group is the working group of the OISTAT Performance Design which promotes the field of costume and disseminates information about the art and practice of costume design.

The group is a non-profit international platform for costume professionals from all over the world, connecting individuals as well as national or regional organizations of costume designers and technicians. The aim is to share knowledge, exchange ideas, inform on artistic practice, research, and motivate creative and critical discourse on costume related issues within the widest possible range of costume practitioners and researchers around the world. Individual members, guests and interested parties are also welcome to participate in meetings and projects.

This website intends to be an ongoing resource for all, documenting current artistic work and research globally.

Meetings

The Costume Design Group meets once a year. Since the beginning, over and above the participation in OISTAT Performance Design Commission meetings, the Costume Design Group has organized and continues to organize individual meetings every year in a different country. The location is always selected because of costume related interests. Regular meetings have been held, every four years, in Prague during Prague Quadrennials (PQ Exhibitions). The Costume Design Group also aims at collaborating with OISTAT Commissions and other working groups by organizing joint meetings, forums and active events.

Countries hosting the Costume Design Group meetings benefit from lectures and presentations, which are open to all OISTAT members as well as to colleagues and students worldwide.
